JULY 2010 Wth the exhibition / gig coming up in Cafe Chao in a few weeks, we've just added an Art Gallery page here

JULY 2010 I'll be playing solo at the america festival in Åmål on Saturday 17 July at 7pm. Also on the bill are Little River and Joe Fournier.

JUNE 2010 Along with Jessica Carlsson I'll be exhibiting paintings at Cafe Chao, Stigbergstorget 8, Gothenburg in the last week in August. The opening is at 8pm on Thursday 26th. I'll play a solo set. It's the first time in ten years that any of my pictures have be seen in public, so maybe it's a bit overdue. There's going to be a bigger show in November, more on that later. In the next few weeks we will be adding a gallery to the website, and later on an archive of over 100 pictures. In the meantime, here's a few recent paintings from the last 12 months.

MAY 2010 New single is out now. 'Time Is All We Have' c/w 'When I first Came To Town' is a limited edition transparent hand-cut lathe, cut by the legendary Peter King in New Zealand. But don't worry if your record player is in the attic, each 7inch comes with a free CD. You can get it here from the wonderful U.K indie emporium Norman Records for £4.79.

FEB 2010 Last year Ed Hannon at The Devil On 45 fanzine asked me to write something, so i scribbled down a few ideas and hacked out an artcle entitled 'The Devil's Music - Rock 'n' Roll's Romance With The Occult'. The mag came out last September, but if you didn't get a chance to get a copy you can read the text in full here

JAN 2010 I'll be playing a 'special guest ' slot at Henriksberg Tackterass,Göteborg on Friday January 29. It's the launch gig/party for The Don Darlings new album. I sing on one track on the album, and on the 29th I'll play a short solo set, as well as a few numbers with the 2120's, and later join the Don Darlings on stage. Doors are at 9pm. Should be fun.

SEPT 2009 When Oriol Stardust designed the new poster for the Spanish gigs, I was prompted to find some old ones we've used over the years, and I found more than a few. You can see them  HERE

SEPT 2009 We found another bunch of old newspapers in the attic so we scanned the relevant bits, including a long forgotten interview with Olaf Tyaransen from way back in the last century. Well, 1997 in fact. You can see them right HERE

SEPT 2009 A new review of 'Mansions Of Gold' from Alt. Country, Netherlands.

Swampy cowpunk in de geest van Beasts Of Bourbon, dat past helemaal bij een songtitel als The Women Around Here. Het is te vinden op Mansions Of Gold (Cannery Row Records) van Eamonn Dowd & The Racketeers. Doesn’t Matter Of All is stevige paisley underground waarop Dowd klinkt als Steve Wynn. Holly I got your records, been playing them all day long / Got a hellhound on my trail, and my head is full of songs / ‘round and ‘round at 33 and then at 45 / I got my 45’s.

SEPT 2009 Here's a new review of 'Mansions Of Gold' from Folkworld in Germany.

SEPT 2009 A while back I was asked by Ed Hannon from The Devil on 45 zine to write something. So, in keeping with the tone of the publication I put together a piece entitled "The Devil’s Music - Rock n’ Roll’s Romance With The Occult"
From Robert Johnson, to Jimmy Page to Genesis P-Orridge, musicians have had a long lasting liaison with the Prince of Darkness, so I reckoned it was worth a study. The mag is available from various record shops in Dublin and in other major cities. Full details can be found on the their myspace and you can also get it mail-order from thedevilon45@yahoo.ie  Check it out, I've got all the back issues myself !

AUG 2009 The good folks over at CD Baby have used 'The Women Around Here' on their recent rockabilly podcast. We're in good company, Per Torres and Rusty York also get a spin.

JULY 2009 The Albums & MP3's page has been updated. Basically we found a bunch of stuff we'd forgotten about. A Swedish compilation with a previously unreleased track, a Cannery Row sampler, an EP from 2004, a radio promo CD-R from 1998 !!

JUNE 2009 A review of Mansion Of Gold from Rootstime, Belgium.

At All" vonden we iets minder. "Mansions of Gold" is gelukkig weer een echte Eamonn Dowd & The Racketeers plaat.

MAY 2009 A review of Mansions Of Gold from Americana UK where they said a few nice things about us

"The wild rover delivers another solid punch...................
Dowd strikes me as the kind of musician for whom the music, the performing is everything,; he just plugs his guitar in and plays (my kind of musician). This record is louder and harsher than the last, as though he gained a taste for electricity and wants to feel its jolt as often as possible. ‘Stanton Street’ sounds like he’s playing in the rain in order to spark a short-circuit. Dowd also tours econo, just him and his acoustic guitar. ‘Autumn Laves’ eloquently states why that possibility should mean it is something that you should look out for. His voice isn’t the best, it is rough and ready, but it is heartfelt and artless, so that you are more than happy to hear it pushing the words out.

When they add additional touches like banjo, organ and sax on ‘Sweet Angel’ it is not over-egging the omelette, just tickling the tastebuds with some musical herbs. His bread and butter is drink. ‘The Women Around Here’ or ‘Nobody Knows’ feature dame alcohol, the latter sounding a lot like the underrated Steve Westfield with its naked vocal and threatening guitars that eventually break out a sheet of noise with a prickle of banjo tagging along like Jiminy Cricket. Dowd seems like the kind of person you’d want to share a beer with and I’m pretty sure that this would sound all the better if I wasn’t stone cold sober." (Dave Cowling)

APRIL 2009 New photos in from Dirk Van Berkelaer from a gig at De Heksenketel, Antwerp in 2007. Thanks Dirk.
